I have personal issue with one episode...
« on: March 15, 2010, 04:19:49 PM »

I know it's alittle late to complain about it now is just that I haven't decided weither or not I should discuss it till today!

Anyway, after seeing the episode "Boy's Do Cry" where the Griffins retreated to Texas but never explain where in Texas in particular thus this resulted the episode to sort of poke fun at the fact that everbody in Texas wears western style clothing and that almost everything in Texas is western related or the fact that Texas is a western style state pacificly. In reailty though that is qite un-true since I happen to reside in Texas (But I originally held from New York) and not eveything in Texas is western related infact most of the majority of the state just happens to be normal like any other state including New York! In short, I'm abit offended that this episode presented to the viewing public that this is what Texas is thought to look like rather than being thought as normal just as any other state in the U.S.!

If i'm missing something here, feel free to inlighten me!

Don't they cut the cables? I bet it's a big problem in Texas. I wonder if they have like, guards around the cables?

I presume you are only watching the television version and not the DVDs with their commentaries. Seth points out that ITS ONLY A JOKE. Just like any other stereotype that gets parodied. You think by watching Family Guy that all Canadians are laid back dweebs and all Brits are ugly buck-toothed fruits. (ok, maybe... Awsome Face)

Hey I agree with you, i've seen "King of the Hill" (off topic).  It's just since former President Bush was from Teaxs, and since Seth is a loyal democrat, he desided to take a jab at the former President's home state.

So, the only problem with Family Guys portrayal for you was the fact that it showed Texans all wearing Western style clothing? That's it? There was nothing else in this episode that offended you about the portrayal of Texans? Nothing at all?

 Stewie

Hi :-)
Well I don't really see what was offensive in that episode. If you were from Louisiana i'd understand you could be offend by the episode when they move there and where all southern people are ugly, stupid, incestuous and backwards...

Some jokes can sometimes be really offensive like the song "I need a jew" where I could understand Jewish people being offended. My girlfriend who's british was a bit pissed about the fact that all british people are fucking ugly. I'm French (sorry about the mistakes in my reply BTW), France isn't insulted a lot, but it has been in south park when cartman says god hated gays so much he sent all sodomite people to France, and I thought it was funny. It's just a matter of being able to laugh at yourself.

I wondered who would take that bait.

Edit: And to be fair, I once thought of moving to Canada but was too laid back (lazy) to fill out the Visa.  :)

While, since you brought that up I think that kinda make sense, but I wonder how he feels about Obama as our current president though? Also, I'am aware of the fact that the show poke fun at other foreign countries but were talking about other states in the U.S. here although I did remember FG toke some jabs at New Yorkers apparently!

Well from what I heard, Seth donated over $50,000 to various Democratic congressional committees and to the 2008 presidential campaign of Barack Obama, so in my opinion he's a big Obama supporter.  The problems in that episode for me were, Stewie's crossdressing, Brian's left-wing BS, and that speech that Peter gave at the end .
