First we have the abortion episode that was greenlighted and then backed away from with the announcement that it will be presented as a DVD special. A plot to sell more DVDs? Hmmm?
Now the Microsoft deal. Does FOX and Microsoft want us to believe they didn’t get any money in advance…renting a theater, paying the hands, not to mention the stars? For a company that possibly lost several million dollars, FOX is being awfully quiet in this affair. Or did Microsoft pay them under the table for production and then make a big deal out of backing away to keep the puritans happy, knowing they could say the special was filmed with their stuff already in it…’We didn’t know how raw it was but gee, too bad we can’t take it out now that its filmed…’

Microsoft has, however, pleased one bloc of potential Windows 7 consumers: The conservative Parents Television Council, which on Tuesday applauded Microsoft for "waking up to the risk that was posed to its brand by serving as sole sponsor for a Seth MacFarlane special." And in that battle of the PC-vs.-Mac culture war, at least, the PC has accidentally scored a victory.
