You know what really bugged me. When they made fun of Danny Elfman in Blue Harvest. Comparing him to John Williams is apples and oranges. Pee-Wee, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas. Those are genius! Just because it's more whimsical and not as regal as Williams doesn't mean they are not masterpieces.
Edit: He did the singing for Jack Skellington. I had no idea. Amazing.

hi.
|
the show has STOPPED TRYING to be funny. Its now just out to shock. Its by-rote audience is substantial enough that they'll stay on the air for at least a couple of more seasons. These viewers don't understand why they watch, they just do and laugh at what are apparantly remarks that appear to be punchlines more because of positioning rather than being humorous. In the mean time the quality anticipaters are falling away in vast numbers as the show merely quotes rhetoric and pushes the FCC standards envelope.

John Adams said it best, "This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it." Weather or not you think the show is funny anymore is such a pointless argument. If you like the show, watch it and if you don't like it, don't watch it. I get sooooo sick of people that come on the forums and preach that Family Guy isn't funny to them anymore. The keyword here is THEM. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and while I respect your right to have it, please SHUT UP and go complain somewhere else, and take your religion with you. Thanks. Now who's up for a Sexy Party???

Whether. And people would suck as much with or without religion, though they wouldn't be able to hide behind it to defend their bigotry.

Sorry, it's late lol. Just my opinion but religion has done more to hurt society than it's helped it.

You know what really bugged me. When they made fun of Danny Elfman in Blue Harvest.
Don't know if you've seen the interview with Alex Borstein for the Variety Show, but for some reason, I found it amusing they used Danny Elfman's 'Back to School' theme in the background.

Your not understanding me. I'm not getting anal about it being offensive to my religion. When they had Peters dad retire and live with them that was one of the funniest episodes they made. It poked fun of Christianity and they made it hilarious. With the newer episodes, like when Peter starts his own church, whenever Peters dad (I don't know his name) mentions his views on Christianity or what Peter was doing Brian was right there to call him a dumbass and try and distort everything he said to being wrong. That's not funny, that's just someone being a tool and forcing their opinion down your throat and it happens WAY to often.
Let's say that I 'crossed the line' and got shock value by commenting on MCR. That's fine if I do it once. Now if every time you respond on this thread I simply say how bad MCR is, then it wouldn't be funny it would be over-kill. Any person with half a brain knows I'm not trying to make you my friend on here, I'm saying MCR is bad for 'shock value.' But even you have to admit when it happens way to often it's not funny or cool. It's simply annoying. I just don't understand how so many people can continue to watch and find that even slightly funny and even defend it.
And you don't have to worry, I quit watching a looonngg time ago. I just wish the new shows didn't give me a bad rap for liking the older stuff. : /
Fuck this.

I love Family Guy
|
Actually, the purpose of this forum is fan feedback on the Family Guy TV show so the guy who said "shut up and take your religion with you" is making an inappropriate comment.
I gave Family Guy another shot on Sunday and once again I was disappointed. Brian was dating a 50-year-old woman and the whole episode was full of tasteless and lame jokes at the expense of older people. The worst so-called "joke" was Peter urging Brian to put his girlfriend to death by smothering her with a pillow. That isn't funny and it's just plain evil.
I didn't laugh one time during the entire 30 minutes I watched this show and my guess is lots of people feel the same way. Shocking people with tasteless humor is not the same as being funny. But I was actually not shocked, I was just disgusted with Seth and the evil philosophy that guides his life and taints the Family Guy program.
During the Comedy Show that Seth gave that night, he told Alex that if the Christians are right, he is definitely burning in hell. I am glad that Seth has so much self-awareness of what an evil person he is, because I couldn't have said it better.

Says the guy who's been here less than 2 months. If your feelings keep getting hurt: A) stop watching the show, and B) go play somewhere else, junior.

It's called tasteless humor, its not evil, its a joke, and plus he didn't do it, so its harmless. I found it funny, cuz i enjoy tasteless humor, apparently you don't, so ill just say it: If you don't like tasteless humor, DON'T WATCH FAMILY GUY!

As a guy who spends a fair amount of time in a wheelchair, with the constant care and what-not, do you know how much my wife and I tease each other about smothering the other with a pillow? ITS A JOKE TO US.

I liked the joke on The Drew Carey Show about Lewis's mom standing over his bed at night holding a pillow and saying "I should have done it when I had the chance".
